Job Description
The Development Administrative Assistant will, under the direction of the Executive Director, provide administrative and development assistance in coordinating and implementing the development and fundraising activities of the Garden State Philharmonic. The Development Administrative Assistant will assist with the implementation of development activities, which meet goals for orchestra events and maximize the visibility of the orchestra, consistent with Garden State Philharmonic policies and long-range objectives. As such, Development Administrative Assistant assists with the coordination and implementation of all annual, sponsorship, capital, endowment, and planned giving programs, as well as fund-raising events and benefits., including but not limited to: program book sponsorships, in-kind donations, annual patron renewal campaigns (direct mail, telemarketing); donor research; and donor cultivation activities for the Garden State Philharmonic. The Development Administrative Assistant is also responsible for assisting with grant applications to federal, state, and local government agencies that provide arts funding; and researching and applying to private foundations and corporations that provide arts grants. The Development Administrative Assistant, working with the Executive Director, will support the a year-round development program that demonstrates the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.
Requirements:
1. Previous Experience & Expertise: Demonstrated record of accomplishment as part of an office team and in the field of development. 2. Administrative Skills: Proven capacity to multitask, proofread and compose professional letters, manage detail-oriented projects, and maintain databases and spreadsheets. Experience in development/fundraising very desirable. 3. Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institute of higher education very desirable. 4. Communication: Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), proofreading, phone and interpersonal skills. 5. Technology: Experience with PC-based word and database management applications (knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Access and MS Excel) essential. Ability to type and word process fundamental. Familiarity with Internet searches and e-mail correspondence a plus. 6. Professional Conduct: Demonstration of the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. 7. Team Player: Ability to work cooperatively and independently, in a fast paced environment. 8. Musical Appreciation: Working knowledge and appreciation of symphonic and classical music desirable. 9. Commitment. Ability to perform occasional evening and weekend concert duty as required. 10. Mobility: A valid NJ driver’s license and non-prohibitive transportation. 11. Other Skills: Ability to balanced and prioritize multiple tasks and projects. Orientation and training will be provided.
