Programs for Individuals

The Kennedy Center has several programs for current and emerging arts leaders. These programs include the Fellowship Program, Internship Program and Executive Seminars. Program participants have the opportunity to work closely with Kennedy Center senior staff and expand their professional network. Through practical training, seminars, demonstrations, and individual and group projects program participants develop the skills to succeed in today’s complex arts environment—all in the context of one of the largest performing arts organizations in the nation.

Kennedy Center Internships

The Kennedy Center Internship Program provides valuable on-the-job training for individuals considering a profession in arts management and those wishing to expand their arts management skill set.  Interns enjoy close working relationships with experienced arts professionals, hands-on work opportunities, and a structured blend of independent and collective learning experiences.  Kennedy Center Internships are full-time, last 12 weeks, and are offered three times a year (Fall, Winter/Spring, Summer).

Fellowships at the Kennedy Center

The Kennedy Center Fellowship Program provides 10 highly motivated, disciplined, and creative arts managers a comprehensive program of study that includes coursework, a rotation of workplace assignments in Kennedy Center departments and a structured series of professional development seminars.Kennedy Center Fellowships are full-time and last 10 months from September through June.

Executive Seminars

The Kennedy Center Executive Seminars offer intensive professional development experiences for current arts managers and board volunteers.  These seminars focus on both long-term strategic issues and immediate operational issues facing leaders of arts organizations today.
