Job Description
Oversees and assists in planning the corporate, foundation, and government outreach initiatives of this major New York City cultural institution with a $5.3 million budget. Reports to Director of Development. Supervises the Manager of Institutional Giving.

Responsibilities include:
? Managing a funding portfolio with an annual goal of approximately $1.6 million
? Targeting and researching new institutional funders
? Strategizing, preparing and supervising the preparation of proposals for new and renewed annual support, as well as for a prospective advancement campaign
? Maintaining relationships with existing funders and cultivating new and productive partnerships
? Overseeing gift processing and acknowledgments
? Working with the Director of Marketing to implement Symphony Space’s developing corporate sponsorship program
? Working with the Associate Director for Individual Giving to plan and execute acknowledgment and cultivation events
? Collaborating with the Associate Director for Individual Giving and the Director of Marketing on the design and production of key institutional publications and collateral materials
? Representing Symphony Space at various events and conferences, both in- and out-of-house
? Assisting the Director in formulating and overseeing relevant portions of the Department’s annual income and expense budgets

Symphony Space is a multi-disciplinary, not-for-profit performing arts institution, which through its rental program and in-house productions, presents more than 500 events annually in film, dance, music, literary readings, family programming and education.
The administrative work week is Tuesday-Friday, 9AM-7PM. The Development Department staff is also expected to attend key evening or weekend events throughout the season. Symphony Space is an equal opportunity employer.



Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ professional development experience, preferably in an arts organization and including direct contact with board members, funding executives and program staff; excellent written and oral communication skills; sound financial management skills; strong computer skills; and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
